Rhiannon Thomas’s dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of Sleeping Beauty and what happens after happily ever after.

One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale.

Her family is long dead. Her “true love” is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept.

As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.

Rhiannon Thomas weaves together vivid scenes of action, romance, and gorgeous gowns to reveal a richly imagined world … and Sleeping Beauty as she’s never been seen before.

Waiting on…Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson

I took one look at the cover of this book and I HAD to learn more! It’s definitely got that steampunk vibe and the tagline “All is fair in love and revolution” is EVERYTHING!

I really enjoy alternate reality novels, so this story of a British-ruled America that involves magic and rebellion was immediately appealing! I also love a good female heroine and it sounds like Verity is my kind of girl. There’s just something so satisfying when a young woman discovers her own inner strength! Girl power for the win!

A sixteen-year-old governess becomes a spy in this alternative U.S. history where the British control with magic and the colonists rebel by inventing.

It’s 1888, and sixteen-year-old Verity Newton lands a job in New York as a governess to a wealthy leading family—but she quickly learns that the family has big secrets. Magisters have always ruled the colonies, but now an underground society of mechanics and engineers are developing non-magical sources of power via steam engines that they hope will help them gain freedom from British rule. The family Verity works for is magister—but it seems like the children’s young guardian uncle is sympathetic to the rebel cause. As Verity falls for a charming rebel inventor and agrees to become a spy, she also becomes more and more enmeshed in the magister family’s life. She soon realizes she’s uniquely positioned to advance the cause—but to do so, she’ll have to reveal her own dangerous secret.

Waiting on…The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

Am I allowed to be waiting on book two of a series I haven’t even started yet? Because, man, I am SOOOO waiting on this one. I’ve heard so much buzz about the first book in the Remnant Chronicles series, The Kiss of Deception, and it’s making me covet book two already. But…just gimme a second to explain…

Ok, to be fair, Kiss of Deception is literally sitting right next to my bed in my TBR pile so I WILL be getting to it soon. The buzz around this first book is pretty intense and I can’t wait to read it and join the legions of fangirls shouting its praises.

So yeah, I may not have read book one yet but that doesn’t mean I can’t be excited for book two right? Am I doing it wrong? If I am, I don’t want to be right!

Intrigue abounds in this hotly anticipated sequel to The Kiss of Deception!

Held captive in the barbarian kingdom of Venda, Lia and Rafe have little chance of escape. Desperate to save her life, Lia’s erstwhile assassin, Kaden, has told the Vendan Komizar that she has the gift, and the Komizar’s interest in Lia is greater than anyone could have foreseen.

Meanwhile, nothing is straightforward: there’s Rafe, who lied to Lia, but has sacrificed his freedom to protect her; Kaden, who meant to assassinate her but has now saved her life; and the Vendans, whom Lia always believed to be barbarians. Now that she lives amongst them, however, she realizes that may be far from the truth. Wrestling with her upbringing, her gift, and her sense of self, Lia must make powerful choices that will affect her country… and her own destiny.

Waiting on…The Heir by Kiera Cass

First of all, many thanks to Andi at Andi’s ABCs for being such an amazing book-pusher! I read this series on her insistence and I absolutely loved it. As a matter of fact, I JUST finished book three in The Selection Series, The One, and for some reason I had forgotten that Kiera Cass is releasing a fourth book that takes place 20 years later. My reaction when I remembered that I would be able to read more of this story looked a little something like this…

And this time…it’s a PRINCESS who gets to pick from a group of suitors. Oh heck yeah…

I’m pretty excited for this series to continue and I can’t wait to see what’s been happening with Maxon and America over the past 20 years! I mean, the last book ended and I just wanted to know MORE! Did the big plan for the castes Maxon and America were working on actually happen? What happened to the other girls of The Selection? How does America adjust to living life as a royal? Hopefully The Heir will answer all this and more, because I seriously cannot get enough of these books!

Waiting on…Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Leila Sales

Let me start off by saying, there’s not much info out there about this book yet. There’s the teeny tiny blurb below and also this quick description from this article that I found online…

Sales tells the story of 17-year-old Arden Huntley and a blogger named Peter. Peter’s blog is the same as Sales’ upcoming novel, and Arden finds so much comfort and understanding in his words that she sets out on a road trip to NYC to find him. What comes next is parties, dancing, and music, and some revelations that show maybe Peter and Arden both aren’t who the other thought they were.

Other than that there’s not much out there. Which is to be expected considering it doesn’t come out for almost a year! No seriously, we’re looking at a nine month wait until this one comes out. But no matter, I’ll read anything by Leila Sales so I know this book will be an auto-buy for me. All I really need to know is that it’s about blogging and is set in NYC…SOLD!

I’m only slightly obsessed with the cover, actually make that MASSIVELY obsessed! The colors, the font and the epic galaxy design on the bottom! I mean…who doesn’t love SPACE?!

Actually, I know this is weird but the bottom of the cover totally reminds me of all of those space cat gifs I love. Yep, I love cats and I love space, so it only makes sense for me to be obsessed with space cats! Would you just look at this little guy…

Waiting on…99 Days by Katie Cotungo

99 Days by Katie Contungo caught my attention about a month or so ago, and since then I’ve been oohhing and ahhhing over the cover, and also obsessing over the book description. It sounds like the perfect mix of romance, heart ache and drama. Which is riiiigght up my alley!  After reading some of the comments on Goodreads, I have a feeling that I’m going to be doing a lot of this while reading… giphy

and I have a strong suspicion I’ll be doing plenty of this…

but ultimately, I’m hoping I’ll close the book after reading that final page and do this…

giphy I mean, isn’t that what all of the best books are supposed to do? Make your feels go into overdrive and have you wanting to say all of the things!! Day 4: A nasty note on my windshield makes it clear Julia isn’t finished. I’m expecting a fight when someone taps me on the shoulder, but it’s just Gabe, home from college and actually happy to see me. “For what it’s worth, Molly Barlow,” he says, “I’m really glad you’re back.” Day 12: Gabe got me to come to this party, and I’m actually having fun. Waiting on…Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

I’ve discovered over the past year that I really enjoy fairytale, myth and legend re-tellings! I adore the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer for its futuristic re-telling of the Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel fairy tales, as well as the Scarlet series by A.C. Gaughen for her gender-bending twist on the Robin Hood legend. There’s nothing I appreciate more than an author who takes a story we all know and love and re-imagines it into a fresh and unique story.

Needless to say, I was immediately intrigued when I read the description of Crimson Bound and discovered it was inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. This book seems right up my alley and I cannot wait to get my hands on it and binge read! Hodge’s previous novel, Cruel Beauty, a standalone not associated with Crimson Bound, has been on my TBR for the longest time, so I think I’ll read that one right before Crimson Bound is released and have a Rosamund Hodge’s marathon! Wow…I’m a genius!
